Court Process Information

Whether you have been pulled over for a speeding ticket or you are facing serious criminal allegations, there are are ways to reduce the stress and worry you may have about going to court.

  • Give yourself plenty of time and arrive early. Do not be late to your court appearance at any local Ohio court – if you show up late, you may receive the same penalty as not appearing, which is a warrant for your arrest. Build plenty of buffer time to ensure you do not show up late. Set multiple alarms, pre-plan babysitting or nanny services, map out your route, and prepare yourself for potential traffic. It’s best to arrive around 30 minutes prior to your scheduled court appearance so you can sign in and find your courtroom before having to go before the judge.
  • Leave weapons at home. If you are in possession of any weapons or firearms, you may be asked to relinquish it at the entrance of the courthouse for security reasons. You will not get your weapons back until you leave the courthouse. We suggest leaving these at home to avoid any issues.
  • If you have questions, ask. Not sure where you are supposed to sit or where to sign paperwork? Just ask, politely and clearly. The courthouse personnel will do their best to help you.
